Notice of Public Hearing - Affordable Housing Advisory Committee
The Sarasota County and City of Sarasota Affordable Housing Advisory Committee will hold a Public Hearing on September 18, 2024, at the Sarasota County Administration Center, Third Floor Think Tank, 1660 Ringling Blvd., Sarasota, Florida, at 9:30 a.m., or as soon as thereafter possible, to review the Local Housing Incentive Strategy Recommendations.
A Summary of Recommendations by the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee include:
- Expedited Permitting for affordable-housing-related projects;
- Ongoing review of Fees/Impact Fees;
- Increased Density;
- Infrastructure Capacity review;
- Accessory Residential Unit review;
- Parking/Setback Reductions;
- Flexible Lot Configuration review;
- Street Modification Requirements review;
- Ongoing review of ordinances, regulations and plan provisions as they relate to the cost of housing;
- Locally owned land inventory review;
- Ongoing review of Affordable Housing Developments near transportation/employment hubs; and
- Committee suggestions related to the affordable housing supply.
All interested parties are invited to appear, be heard, and submit relevant evidence. Copies of supporting documents are available during normal business hours in the Planning and Development Services Department at 1660 Ringling Blvd., Sarasota, Florida. Copies of supporting documents will be available to view or download at www.scgov.net, (Keyword: “Affordable Housing Advisory Committee”) the Friday prior to the public hearing. Written comments will be considered and may be sent to the Planning and Development Services Department prior to the public hearing at the above address or by e-mail to planner@scgov.net.
